Introducing the Touch Grass Series

Much of my focus this last year has been directed at getting back to the things I love – the overarching umbrella of those things being the outdoors. What better way to weave my personal and professional life into one than getting outside and shooting some footage with the ol’ drone. The “Touch Grass” series is a look into my personal adventures shot from the ground and from the air and is a true love letter to all things Colorado (and maybe some other places too).

I’m someone who is fascinated by all the little pieces that make up the world around me, so along the way I’ll provide some helpful Rocky Mountain plant identification, note the creatures I see, and offer up any other interesting tidbits that fit the destination. My resolution for this year was to learn to fish (a skill I have somehow avoided after a lifetime spent in Colorado truly surrounded by anglers of all kinds), so you can bet there will be some fishing (mis)adventures too. If nothing else, you can enjoy some shots of the beautiful scenery that the rugged peaks of the West and the rolling plains of the East have to offer. This state is truly extraordinary and has never stopped surprising me. I’m discovering new things about it all the time and I’m thrilled that this series will give me an excuse to see more of it.

While I won’t be getting too technical with the drone jargon in this series, I’ll give a brief look into the planning process that goes into these “casual” outings. Everything from location selection and flight planning to the day-of execution of the flights.

Come along with me as I immerse myself in the outdoors – hiking, bird-watching, camping, snowshoeing, and fishing. I’m excited to share this part of my life with you and I hope that regardless of what brought you to this site, you’ll find something that strikes a chord with you.

Get out there and touch some grass!
