Every year in the state of Colorado, from September to October, tarantulas pop out of their burrows to navigate the high desert in search of a mate. It’s been on my Colorado bucket list for a long time and this year all the stars aligned to make the trip happen.

My goal for the year - among many others - was to learn to fish. There’s nothing like learning in the moment, so for my first chapter in this Touch Grass series, I wanted to try some of the higher altitude lakes in the Poudre Canyon. First stop, Zimmerman Lake.

The “Touch Grass” series is a look into my personal adventures shot from the ground and from the air and is a true love letter to all things Colorado (and maybe some other places too).
